TINY CHAMPIONS

Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class for 3 and 4 year olds where parents can train with their child creating a perfect bonding opportunity

Tiny Champions is our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class for 3 and 4 year olds. The best part of this class is that parents can train with their child, creating a perfect opportunity for uninterrupted bonding time as you see your child grow and develop important skills taught on the mat.

IS 3 TOO YOUNG TO START BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU?

Not at all! Getting your child involved in any martial art from an early age is incredibly beneficial. They will learn important skills such as discipline and communication which are able to be carried through life. So why choose Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

In the safe, nurturing, and supportive environment we have created at Gracie Barra Kiama, 3 and 4 year old children are able to develop strong core values, self-confidence, and respect for others through learning the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As a martial art where persistence is rewarded, from as early as 3 years old children are taught to not give up once they face struggle or adversity. Over time, this becomes ingrained in our Tiny Champions and will be carried with them throughout the rest of their childhood.

Yes! We do ask parents to be involved in the Tiny Champions class. This is an incredible opportunity to bond with your child as they learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Martial Arts. You will be involved in helping them learn fundamental skills, persevere through the challenges they face, and interact with other instructors, students and parents.

You will even find yourself picking up key skills in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, meeting like-minded parents, and becoming a part of our incredible martial arts community.

I AM NOT A FIT PARENT AND NOT SPORT-COORDINATED. CAN I STILL DO THE CLASS?

Absolutely! No matter your fitness level you will be able to participate in the class with your child. Remember, this class offers the opportunity to engage with your child as they are growing and learning new skills in Jiu Jitsu and life itself. FAQ - HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?

We understand that walking into a completely new environment filled with people you have never met before can be intimidating, especially for kids.

Here are a few common questions we receive. Please reach out to our team if your question has not been answered!

My child is being bullied at school - can Brazilian Jiu Jitsu help?

Absolutely. We strongly encourage any child who is experiencing bullying on any level to get into martial arts, particularly Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

By learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, children will learn how to deal with people who are bullies in a non-violent, calm manner. If necessary, they will know how to defend themselves without throwing any punches or kicks. Also, by joining Gracie Barra Kiama they will immediately become part of an amazing community filled with other kids just like them, experiencing similar circumstances, which ultimately helps them feel as though they are not alone and there are other kids they can be friends with.

Will my child become aggressive by learning Martial Arts?

No, it is the exact opposite. The principles of martial arts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu especially rest in teaching students the skills, techniques, and tactics are for self-defence only. You are never the aggressor. By learning these skills, children often become more calm and confident. They develop patience, understanding, and tolerance.
